If you have a pinball machine in your restaurant or your bar, or if you just own one and keep it in your basement, you are likely going to want to make sure that it stays functional. This will help allow it to continue making you money, as well as satisfying customers or your own boredom. Here are some tips for maintaining your pinball machine.
1. Clean Your Machine Once a Week
Your first task is to actually clean out your pinball machine. This is critical because it allows you to get rid of any dust or debris that might be in the machine, clogging it up. You don't want to deal with that because it could result in a total system shutdown. To clean your machine, remove the plastic or glass shield and carefully set it off to the side. Then, clear the playfield by removing all of the ramps and other items. Make sure that you take a picture of the machine beforehand if you're not sure that you know where everything goes. Set all of these aside. Clean and wax the playfield before replacing all of the items. Before you replace each item, dust it off with a microfiber cleaning cloth. Don't forget to clean off the flippers as you work.
2. Clean Your Balls Several Times a Week
The balls that you use are going to determine the amount of wear and tear that your pinball machine experiences. In order to reduce this wear and tear, make sure that you clean the balls several times a week by using glass cleaner. Make sure that you check for any scratches in the balls or cracks that could result in the playfield becoming scratched. Finally, any ball that feels less than smooth should be replaced in order to make sure that the playfield isn't damaged.
3. Play a Test Game After Cleaning
Finally, play a test game after cleaning to make sure that all of the pieces are securely attached. It is better for you to find issues yourself now, when you are being careful, then for a kid to uncover an issue, not realize it, and accidentally cause damage to the machine. Also check for burnt out bulbs.
